The IBS is currently working with Harvard Business School for the seventh year in a row to present an executive development program for banking and finance executives in the GCC region, and from other Middle Eastern countries. The program, titled “Leading Strategy Execution in Financial services”, consists of two integrated themes: ‘Strategic Management’ and ‘Leadership’ and will be held in Doha, Qatar during Jan 30th – Feb 4th, 2016 for six consecutive days. It is aimed at upper middle executives of levels such as department heads.
This custom program is a continuation of the first program that was organized in 2009-2010 in Kuwait exclusively for the Kuwaiti IBS member banks. After the tremendous success of that program, and with Harvard Business School and GCC Banking Institutes showing interest in a GCC level event, the second program was conducted in Dubai during the training year 2010-2011 for the GCC banking and financial sectors, as the plan has been to move the venue every year to one of the GCC capitals.
The third and fourth programs were held in March 2012 and March 2013 in Doha, Qatar and Muscat, Oman, respectively and the 2014 program was held in Dubai. Kuwait was home to the program again in 2015.
The programs ran with almost double the participation seen in the first and second programs indicating the growing demand for this high-profile event in Kuwait and the GCC countries.
The same main themes “Strategy” and “Leadership” were presented. These had been selected considering that in today’s competitive, turbulent and rapidly changing environments, managers and employees alike look to the top of their organizations for two things: a clear strategy and effective leadership. Business success depends on both.
Harvard Business School Executive Education programs offered in collaboration with the IBS adhere to the school’s high standards, thus ensuring that participants and their organizations receive the same quality of learning experience for which the school is so well known. Participants receive a Harvard Business School certificate, verifying that they have completed the program.
Both Harvard Business School and the IBS are keen on continuing their collaboration in the year 2015-2016. This collaboration remains the first of its kind at the GCC level.
