IBS Programs

The financial services sector is, by its essence, a 'people' business, which is driven by excellence in customer service. At the core of the IBS Mission is the development of the human potential in this sector and customer service is therefore a critical component of all IBS activities and a focus of each staff member of IBS.

Professional Education

The mission of IBS education programs is to enable individuals to enter or progress in banking and finance careers, through degree-awarding professional programs. IBS commenced its operations in 1970, as the Banking Studies Center, with a focus on professional education. At the time, it offered two Banking Diploma Programs, a 3-year Banking Diploma for high school graduates followed by a 2-year Higher Banking Diploma. Both programs have been phased out and the Institute is undertaking an upgrade project for its professional education service to offer new programs designed to meet international standards of skill development in banking and finance.

Professional Certification

Professional certification is an integral component of the human resources development and management systems in mature economies. Through professional certification the competencies required to practise in a defined job is specified, training programs are developed to enable individuals to acquire these competencies and standardized exams are administered to ascertain their acquisition. The mechanism tremendously increases the effectiveness and efficiency of the recruitment and human resources development processes, thus contributing to healthy business and economic functioning.
