IBS MANAGEMENT
The Institute's professional activities are planned, designed
and managed by a core team of highly qualified professionals.
IBS has a core team of full-time senior professionals who undertake the
responsibility for the educational, training, research and consulting
activities. They are assisted by a team of well-qualified professional assistants.
The Institute functions under the patronage of the Central Bank of Kuwait and
is governed by a Board of Directors under the chairmanship of the Governor of
the Central Bank of Kuwait. The IBS Board comprises the
Chairman, Managing Directors or Chief General Managers of the member banks.

Dr. Ridha M. Al Khayyat
is the Director of the Institute of Banking
Studies, as well as a Core Faculty member and researcher for the areas of
organizational behavior, training and development. He has an MBA and a Ph.D. in
Public Administration from the University of Southern California, USA. His
areas of specialization are: Organizational Behavior, Human Resources
Development. He is also a qualified practitioner of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
(MBTI) applications. He has designed and delivered training programs, provided
consulting services to various organizations, and presented papers at
international conferences. He has produced a number of Arabic Training and
Education films, and published a number of papers. His research interests
include Training and Development Systems' Effectiveness, Psychometrics,
Computer Based Training (CBT), and Managerial Effectiveness.

Dr. Mohammad AbdulHadi Al Mahmeed
is the Head of Research Affairs at the Institute and also the Chairman of the
Department of Quantitative Methods and Information Systems at the College
of Administrative Sciences at Kuwait University. He has an MS and Ph.D.
degree in Statistics from Oklahoma State University, USA. He has a large number
of research papers and publications to his credit. He has written 2
books. He won the 1996 Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of
Sciences (KFAS) Award for Scientific Publications in the field of
Administrative Sciences and Economics. His current interests are in the field
of Applied and Theoretical Statistics (Time Series Modeling, Sequential
Analysis, and Fuzzy Logic).

Dr. Mohsen Abdel Moeti El-Shimy
is the Head of the English Language Unit (ELU) at the Institute of Banking
Studies (IBS). He holds an MA from the University of Essex and a Ph.D. in
Applied Linguistics from the University of Wales, UK. Prior to joining the IBS,
he served as an Assistant Professor at the College of Basic Education
where he was also the Chairperson of its English Language Unit. He
was the convener of the First and Second Symposia on the Teaching of English as
a Banking Language (TOEBL Symposium). He has co-authored a number of
publications in the fields of ESP and TEFL. He has also given talks at
major international conferences and has published papers in renowned TEFL
and TESL journals. He is a member of IATEFL, TESOL and a Fellow Member of the
EDI of the World Bank. His main interests are English for Specific Purposes,
Syllabus Design and Testing and Measurement.

Dr. George Paul Punnakattil
is the Chief Researcher at the Institute of Banking
Studies(IBS), Kuwait. He has an MBA degree and the Doctorate Qualification from
the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India. He has
designed/participated in or led a large number of applied research studies and
publications related to Banks, Financial Institutions and Companies. He has
numerous publications and research works related to finance, investments,
banking and strategic management to his credit. He has worked on several
consulting assignments for different organizations. He also has designed and
participated in numerous training and educational programs related to finance,
investment, banking and strategic management. Previously, he worked in
positions such as Finance & Accounts Executive at the Hindustan Aeronautics
Limited, as Faculty and Consultant at the Administrative Staff College of
India, and as Consultant for the Tata Group of Companies in India). His current
interests are in the areas of Finance, Investments, Banking, and Strategic
Management.

Mr. Ahmed Abdel Moneam Mohamed
is the Acting Head of Finance at the Institute of Banking Studies. He holds a B.Sc. from the Faculty of Commerce, Ain Shams University, Egypt.
Mr. Abdel Moneim has been a practitioner for more than 32 years; all of which has been in Kuwait. He spent the first five years with a local private firm then moved to one of the largest holding companies in Kuwait where he spent 23 years. Mr. Abdel Moneim joined the IBS in 2004.

Mr. Desmond I. Nelson
is the Acting Head of the Training Unit. He is a BA and FCIB, with 25
years of commercial banking experience in the UK. Since 1991 he also has been
the Chief Examiner of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in "Banking: the Legal
Environment". He has had articles published and presented courses in a number
of institutions of learning.
